EnerG4600 Battery Care
Assembly: The cells have been stored with a charge in them to maintain their stability. Before you assemble your pack be sure to discharge the cells to .90v per cell. Do not discharge to .000v. Use only high quality resin core solder and a soldering iron capable of 900 degrees F.
Discharging: Before charging, discharge your pack at 30-35 amps to .90v per cell 5.40v for a 6 cell pack and 3.60v for a 4 cell pack. Equalize your cells on a tray for 10-15 minutes before you charge. We do not recommend trays that discharge to 0. If you are planning on running your pack more than once per day make sure that it has cooled to room temperature and discharge it on a tray to .90v before charging. Never discharge to .000v, doing so will result in a loss of substantial run time.
Charging: Your charger should be of high quality and have adjustable peak detection. Set the peak detection at .005(5mv) per cell, 6 cell .03 (30mv) and 4 cell .02(20mv). Charge your pack at 6 amp linear. Monitor the temperature of the pack while charging, peak temperature should be 125-130 degrees F. Allowing the temperature to exceed 130 F. will cause damage to your pack and could cause severe venting and eruption of the cells.
Storage: All packs should be stored with 1.20v per cell. It is very important to maintain this voltage at all times. Check your packs frequently. Not following this procedure will result in substantial loss of performance.
